New Euro Cylinders for 2026: Better Protection for Your Home

Home security never stops improving, and neither do the criminals trying to get past it. For years, 3-star TS007 euro cylinders have been the go-to choice for securing UK homes. And up till now, they've done a brilliant job protecting against lock picking, drilling, bumping, and snapping, with some even approved by the Police. But recently, burglars have come up with new ways to attack even these robust locks.

That's why we're excited to launch a new range of euro cylinder locks that meet the updated 2024 TS007 requirements. This range is designed to stop the latest attack methods that older cylinders simply weren't built to handle.

Why Your Door Lock Barrels Matter So Much

Here's something that might surprise you: most UK break-ins happen through doors, not windows. As we covered in our complete home security guide, your front door is often the first thing a burglar looks at. This means that updating to a high-quality euro cylinder does two jobs; it physically stops them getting in, and just as importantly, it makes them think twice about trying to get through anti-snap locks and advanced door lock barrels.

When criminals spot security emblems on premium cylinders, they know they're dealing with locks that'll give them grief. Often, that's enough to send them looking for an easier target.

What's Changed? The New Defences

Traditional 3-star TS007 cylinders were built to withstand the usual suspects: picking, drilling, bumping, snapping, and plug extraction. But criminals have got creative with new techniques like freeze attacks. There are also more sophisticated manipulation techniques that exploit weaknesses in older designs.

These threats led to the 2024 update of the TS007 standard. The new generation of cylinders, including those from Federal Lock, which make cylinders for renowned brands like Ultion and Avocet ABS.

What Makes These New Cylinders Different?

The latest cylinders use tougher materials and smarter internal engineering. They're built with advanced alloys that maintain their strength even under extreme conditions, whether that's freezing attacks or chemical interference.

They've also been rigorously tested with cylinders carrying certification from bodies like Sold Secure, meaning they've been put through rigorous real-world attack scenarios. What’s more, updating your locks can even help with insurance as more secure homes benefit from lower premiums, depending on what is done and who you insure with.

Door Security Isn't Just About the Lock

Whilst upgrading your euro cylinder is crucial, it's only part of the picture. Your lock is only as strong as the door furniture around it. Criminals don't always attack the cylinder directly, and sometimes they'll go after the handles, hinges, or other weak points.

That's why it's worth considering reinforced door handles with anti-drill plates, sash jammers for extra locking points (especially useful on back doors), and making sure your multi-point locking system is fully engaged every time you lock up. There's more detail on all this in our home security guide.

New Year, New Home

Our new range launches mid-January. Here's what to do now:

Check your current cylinders. If they're a few years old or don't have 3-star TS007 certification, it's time for an upgrade. You'll need to measure from the centre of the keyhole to the edge of the door on both sides to get the right size.

Think about which doors need attention. Front and back doors are obvious priorities, but don't forget side entrances or doors connecting to your garage.

Worth the Investment

The point isn't to turn your home into Fort Knox. It's simply about making it less appealing than a house down the road. Modern cylinders with updated certification do exactly that.
